GMC Criteria for Specialist Doctor Registration
Living as a physician in England will offer you prestige, comfort, and convenience with high living standards that other European countries cannot offer. Spouses and children (under the age of 18) of persons who start their working life as physicians naturally have the right of residence, if any. These accompanying persons can exercise all the rights of British citizens except the right to be elected. In addition, you will see that many primary, secondary, and high school educations, which are considered among the most respected schools in the world, are offered free of charge for your children if any.
Working hours are limited to 40 hours per week for doctors, and outside of this period, the services provided by the doctors require high additional fees to be paid, even if they are on-call.
However, some steps must be taken to reach this different position that will directly affect your career and entire life.
If your primary medical qualification is from outside the UK, GMC needs to make sure it’s acceptable in the UK. Qualifications that meet the criteria are considered acceptable for applying to the specialist register with GMC.
There are some set conditions for GMC registration and licensing of specialist physicians that are not very stringent:
SDR-UK will ensure that all documents and data you provide are prepared in the format used by GMC. The most important reason why applications for GMC registration and license are not accepted is that the data in the file content cannot be presented correctly. SDR-UK will do its best to present the right information in the right order and in the right way, without causing confusion or ambiguity.
The English language requirement is a condition that can be delayed after the first phase (the GMC application period) and is a requirement for starting a job. Therefore, you will need to demonstrate your English proficiency with the IELTS or OET exam during the GMC registration and licensing process, which will take approximately 6 months.
